About This Event
Following the UK settlement rights granted to former Gurkhas, many have made the UK their home, increasing the Nepali population to around 150,000. Gurkha and Nepali communities have sprung up from Edinburgh to Dorset, supporting members in tough times and celebrating religious festivals. Among these communities is Tamu Dhee, representing the Gurung tribe, established in 2000.
Tamu Dhee organizes events to preserve and pass on Nepal's rich culture and traditions. In 2009, they initiated Nepali Mela to showcase Nepal's diverse dress, dance, and culture to the British audience. The first event was a resounding success, leading to its annual celebration.
With continuous improvements based on feedback, Nepali Mela grows more vibrant and enjoyable each year. The event thrives thanks to the participation of various ethnic groups, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic audiences. We express our heartfelt gratitude and hope for your continued support.
